Jack Gets a Kiss

So, finally, a month after drawing the outline, this picture is finally completely colored, shaded and all effects have been added. I decided I liked a simple anime look while doing this, and kept it because no matter what else I did, it just didn't look right. As usual, I did the outline by hand and did the rest of the work in Paint. Net, though of course, it is a very basic kind of program and most effects I must manually create.

The idea here is that Katilyn lives in a place where it doesn't snow often. Jack has known her since she was a child and cares about her a lot, as she is one of the few people still able to see him. He decides to surprise her by making a rather large snow storm, and when she sees it, she gives him a kiss.

"Where are you taking me?" She questions, sounding rather suspicious, as Jack leads her along the quiet sidewalk. "This had better not be one of your tricks....because if it is I swear I will-"

"Do you not trust me?" The words come out sounding quite pouty for Jack -who is most often a very cheerful guy. She hesitates for a moment, biting down on her lip -it's hard to come up with an appropriate response when he sounds so out of character. She feels him squeeze her hand slightly, obviously a little uneasy.

"Most people would be anxious if they were blindfolded and dragged off like this -and you're an infamous prankster, Mr. Frost..." She manages to make it sound like a scolding, despite her uncertainty with the sudden change in attitude on his part. When the youthful winter spirit begins to laugh heartily, she inwardly breathes a sigh of relief.

"I'm not a jerk all the time you know. Just trust me, we're almost there anyway."

"Alright."

A minute later, the pair reaches Jack's planned destination, and he lets her hand go, excitedly biting his lip. She'll definitely be very happy to see this, since it's something she's been wanting for a while.

"Okay, you can look now." He leans onto the railing overlooking the river and waits as she pulls the scarf up over her face. He watches intently as the look on her face rapidly shifts from indifferent to shocked to excited. He can't help but grin at the overjoyed expression on her slightly red face as she looks around to see snow falling and piling onto the ground.

"Oh wow!" She spins to get a good look at all of it. The soft purple clouds, the thick layer of powder covering the normally grassy areas, the comfortable quiet atmosphere. Then, her brown, sparkling eyes settle on Jack, who looks rather pleased with himself. "You did this for...me?"

"I've heard you say before how it would never snow here and how you'd always wanted to see it...so, I just did my usual thing," he meets her eyes, grinning proudly "Do you like it that much?"

Before he can react, she leans in and gives him a soft peck on his cheek. A blush creeps over his pale features as she applies more pressure for a second or two before pulling away. Her gaze is a bit more intense than normal, full of many emotions that give him a fluttering feeling in his stomach.

"You're quite easily one of the sweetest guys I've ever met." She takes another look around as she continues. "Thank you, Jack."
